Cycle to work schemes are vital for independent bike dealers
17 May 2016
Whether it’s about a choosing home delivery, a specific bike model or a local shop we recognise the importance of customer choice. We work with over 800 independent bike dealers across the UK to ensure our customers have access to a huge range of bikes and brands. Look out for our logo and find your nearest one here.
Our nationwide network of partners means we offer bikes to suit everyone, regardless of experience, age or interest. But our partners also benefit. Recent research by the Cycle to Work Alliance has highlighted the value of cycle to work schemes to independent bike dealers – and in particular the importance of the scheme to micro-businesses.
- 62% of independent bike dealers said cycle to work schemes are either important or very important to their business
- 42% of retailers that supply bikes to users of the scheme have a turnover of less than £250,000 per year, and 70% have a turnover of less than £500,000 per year
- 65% of the bike retailers that supply bikes to users of the scheme employ less than five people.
The findings demonstrate the importance of schemes both to the national bike industry and to local communities. Cycle to work schemes play an important part in introducing new customers to retailers, both for LoC redemption and for subsequent servicing and purchasing.
