The Big Pedal: a great opportunity for teachers to try cycling to work
19 Apr 2016
This week pupils, staff, siblings and parents are encouraged to jump on their bikes and scooters for The Big Pedal, 18–29 April 2016, a national an inter-school competition organised by charity Sustrans which challenges children to cycle and scoot to school.

On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling or scooting to school. A school’s best five days will determine their final position, but they can log journeys on all ten days if they wish.
All schools will be entered into daily prize draws for rewards including bike and scooter stunt shows, equipment and storage if over 15% of the school cycles or scoots on each day of the challenge.
Staff who cycle to school count as ‘supporter journeys’ which do not contribute points, but are recorded on the homepage counter of The Big Pedal.

The Big Pedal is funded by the Bicycle Association on behalf of the cycle industry through its Bike Hub scheme.
